Saginaw Swan Valley 55, Midland Bullock Creek 16: Nick Call and Alex Grace lead big second-quarter comeback
Nick Call completed 10 of 14 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns leading Saginaw Swan Valley to a 55-16 win over host Midland Bullock Creek on Friday.
Swan Valley running back Alex Grace rushed 18 times for 207 yards and five touchdowns in a big offensive outburst from the Vikings.
Swan Valley (7-0, 5-0) clinched a playoff birth last week, and clinched at least a share of the Tri-Valley Conference with this win.
Bullock Creek actually led this game 16-14 after the first quarter, but Swan Valley came back with 34 unanswered points in the second quarter to take control.
“Bullock Creek’s quarterback threw the ball extremely well tonight,” Swan Valley coach Ken Bourbina said. “He’s a great athlete, and it took us a while to figure him out.
“Once we settled down in the second quarter, we actually played pretty good. We turned more towards our passing game, after they focused on stopping the run game.”
Bullock Creek quarterback Z Westley completed 8 of 24 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 109 yards and a score.
“We started the game off really well,” Bullock Creek coach Steve Miller said. “They were able to go over the top of our defense for some long score, which put us in a hole really quickly.”
Swan Valley hosts Chesaning on Friday, Oct. 17.
