Saginaw Swan Valley senior Courtney Reinhold earns MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award

THOMAS TOWNSHIP, MI — Saginaw Swan Valley senior Courtney Reinhold owns a 4.0 grade point average and a 0.75 earned run average, a combination that netted her the Michigan High School Athletic Association Class B Scholar-Athlete Award.

Reinhold, who has committed to Grand Valley State University, was named one of the recipients of the $1,000 award. The high school association will honor all 32 winners at halftime of the Class C boys basketball state championship game on Saturday, March 22.

Reinhold, the Saginaw News Softball Player of the Year in 2013, is a two-time all-state softball player, leading the Vikings to the Division 2 state final the past two seasons. Last season, Reinhold was 22-5 with a 0.75 ERA and 196 strikeouts in 177 innings.

She also hit .361 with 13 doubles and four homers.

Reinhold also played four years of volleyball and two years of basketball at Swan Valley. Reinhold helped lead the Vikings volleyball team to a regional title. She has been a captain in all three sports.

Reinhold, who will study radiation therapy at Grand Valley, is a four-year member of Swan Valley’s student government and Students Against Destruct Decisions (SADD).
