Neilson assisted on Collin Dole’s goal in the first half, and Swan Valley led 2-0 after 40 minutes.

“A two-goal lead is always a good lead, so it allows us to focus more on defense than offense, which is what we did in the second half,” Swan Valley coach Jamie Dole said.

Swan Valley defeated Garber 1-0 in the last meeting between these teams, but Jamie Dole added that the biggest difference in the two matches was his team’s health.

“Last time Justin wasn’t healthy,” he said. “With him back, it allows us to have some more creativity and goal-scoring threat up front.”

Josh Bielby stopped all 10 shots he faced, and received plenty of help from his defense.

“The back line was great tonight,” Jamie Dole said. “They shut down the best players and prevented balls from coming in over the top and through the middle.”

Swan Valley next hosts Ovid-Elsie on Thursday.
