Saginaw Swan Valley’s Hunter Wunderle makes a 93-yard rushing touchdown as the Vikings top Shepherd 51-13 on Friday
Saginaw Swan Valley’s Hunter Wunderle made a 93-yard rushing touchdown as the clock ran out in the first quarter, to help the Vikings top Shepherd 51-13 on Friday.
Brock Notter led in receiving with 4 for 50, while quarterback Nick Call was 5 of 6 in passing for 85 yards.
“Once we settled in, our line opened some holes, and defensively we were solid all day on the line,” Swan Valley coach Ken Bourbina said. “I think we’re pretty solid on defense. We have some veterans back they’re and they’re doing a good job so far this year.”
Swan Valley had all 51 points by the fourth quarter, when Shepherds Brandon Stressman had a touchdown on a six yard run and Cecil Neal completed a 20-yard touchdown pass.
“We had a running clock, it was late in the game, and I thought our kids held it together mentally each play,” Shepherd coach Nathan Ferency said. “They just kept playing regardless of what the scoreboard said. It’s a rough start to the season, but we’re looking forward to getting better.”
Next Friday, Saginaw Swan Valley hosts Freeland and Shepherd visits Chesaning.
