I am Melissa Clark, and I will be your child’s 4th grade science and social studies teacher at Shields Elementary this year.   I am very excited about the 2014-2015 school year.  The one to one technology, new Shields Elementary building updates, addition of Brad Erlenbeck to our fourth grade team, and YOUR CHILD will make this year a memorable one.

The art of teaching has always been a love of mine.  I inherited this from my father who was also a very dedicated fourth grade teacher for 33 years.   After I graduated from Heritage High School in 1994, I began attending Saginaw Valley State University to pursue my teaching degree.  In the spring of 1999 I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with minors in English and natural science. In the spring of 2006 I completed my master’s degree at SVSU in Educational Leadership.

This is my 16th year of teaching and I am very excited to start another year. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work for such a great school district and community. Thus far, I have had an exciting teaching career. I have taught at both Shields and Havens Elementary Schools. My teaching experiences have included second through fifth grades. I have enjoyed all of these grade levels and I have learned so much along this journey.

I believe strongly that we are all lifelong learners.  I hope to inspire my students to strive to be healthy, happy, and hardworking people.
