The Michigan Children’s Protection Registry serves as a deterrent for inappropriate messages that may be sent to electronic devices.

According to the Protect MI Child Registry website, products and services prohibited under Michigan law for minors to receive: alcohol, tobacco, pornography or obscene material and firearms. This list is not comprehensive and specific questions regarding the law may be sent via the website’s portal.

Adult-oriented messages are the target of this program, and the registry lasts for three years. After this period, an email reminder will be sent by the state. You can then renew for an additional three years. Launched in 2004, this free service is available to individuals and schools in Michigan.
