Swan Valley Board of Education Announces Retirement of Superintendent Mat McRae

The Swan Valley Board of Education has officially accepted the retirement of Superintendent Mat McRae, effective June 30, 2025. After more than three decades of dedicated service, Mr. McRae has positively impacted the lives of thousands of students and the entire Swan Valley community. Under his leadership the district achieved financial stability, passed multiple bond campaigns, and implemented the 1:1 iPad initiative which has enhanced student learning through technology. His commitment to education and unwavering dedication have left a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come. The Board extends its deepest gratitude for his years of service and leadership. With sincere appreciation, we wish Mr. McRae the very best as he embarks on this welldeserved new chapter of retirement.

The Board has contracted with the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) to oversee the search process for our next superintendent. More information, including a proposed timeline, will be shared later today.
